Local - Questions of truth
The reasons are many and varied as to why People are SO NOT interested in “Church” but are wide open to discussing matters of spirituality and how a living faith is worked out in the lives of real people.
The Gospel tells us Pilot asked Jesus “What is truth?” and that is the question most people are still asking about most things in life and indeed death.
“How can a God of love allow genocide in Rawanda? child prostitution in India? the murder of a much loved husband in Glasgow, a woman violated in Whiteinch?. What possible relevance can the events of over 2000 years ago have for people today?
The Alpha Course provides a forum for anyone to ask any question that is in their mind or on their heart about the truth of Christian faith and belief. It’s a place where people are free to enquire, question and challenge that faith and belief and make up their minds without feeling they have to commit themselves to anything.
Alpha also helps Christians understand what it is they believe in and why. “My parents were devout” or “I believe in a God but have never really thought about it”, really doesn’t cut it at all in the real world. If you even consider there MIGHT perhaps maybe, be a God then it would be worth finding out something about him/her, and how God is passionately interested in you and every aspect of your life.
