Pastoral Worker – job vacancy

We are looking for someone who will encourage the growth of spiritually healthy individuals by helping us to develop sustainable systems, which will effectively facilitate discipleship, helping people to move from guest to friend to ministry partner.

We expect our pastoral worker to:

  • Work with the senior leaders to assess and develop systems for effective pastoral care.
  • Develop and grow our welcome, hospitality and induction teams.
  • Facilitate the vision of the church to make disciples who make disciples.
  • Serve as a visible and accessible leadership presence at weekend services
  • Oversee the establishment and development of small groups and foundational courses.
  • Identify opportunities to develop and support missional communities.
  • Meet regularly with small group/ministry leaders to offer encouragement and support.
  • Work with the Director of Pastoral Care to oversee the general care and connecting points within the life of the congregation.

Skills and qualifications

Essential

  • Has a growing relationship with Jesus Christ. Is committed to personal growth, servant leadership and healthy relationships.
  • Able to work on own initiative and be flexible
  • Is a team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A ‘people person’ who is experienced in working relationally.
  • Can demonstrate previous success and an ongoing ability in recruiting, training, and supporting volunteers
  • Has experience or working knowledge of missional communities, small groups and discipleship
  • Minimum of 3-5 years experience in a ministry role

Desirable

  • A qualification in theology or pastoral care/counselling
  • Experience of leading the ‘Emotionally Healthy’ material (Scazzero)
  • An understanding of 3DM principles in building a discipleship culture

Terms and Conditions

  • Number of hours: 18 hours per week including Sunday service.
  • Remuneration: £933 per month (worked on a self-employed basis). This post is initially funded for 12 months.
  • Annual leave: 25 days per annum plus 10 public holidays pro rata.
